PUTIN'S WAR: Ukrainians to launch major offensive in Kursk in 2024! What will happen next year? After almost three years of war between Russia and Ukraine, there was another major prisoner exchange. According to Ukrainian sources, 189 Ukrainians were released, while Russia received 150 prisoners back. The mediation was supported by the United Arab Emirates. Progress and setbacks in the conflict The front lines remain hotly contested. According to Russian President Vladimir Putin, the front still stretches over 2,000 kilometers. The Ukrainian success in the Russian province of Kursk caused a stir. The offensive, which began on August 6, initially brought 1,600 square kilometers under Ukrainian control, but has shrunk to 750 square kilometers. At the same time, this operation means that the Ukrainians are missing important forces in the Donbass, which is exacerbating the situation there.
