This week's Puppet Theater Radio talks about Miyamoto Yoshio. This program is the official radio program run by the only library dedicated to puppet theater in Japan. It is updated every Monday. [Katami Hideaki] Director of "Puppet Theater Library" / Head of "Puppet Theater Trolley" Born in Kyoto in 1948. Founded "Trolley Puppet Theater" in 1971 (1975-Puppet Theater Trolley), and has been delivering fantasy to more than 1 million children in 16 countries around the world, not just in Japan, for over 50 years. Elected as a UNIMA council member in 1984, he was in charge of the 15th convention (held in Japan), and from 1986 he served as deputy secretary-general of the UNIMA 15th convention and 88 World Puppet Theater Festival Organizing Committee. As a puppet theater researcher, he has opened the "Puppet Theater Library" since 1991, and also serves as a lecturer on "Children's Cultural Activities" at Kyoto Women's University and other institutions. In 2005, he was a member of the executive committee of the Osaka International Puppet Festival to commemorate the registration of Bunraku as a World Intangible Heritage, in 2008 he supervised the National Theater Cultural Digital Library's "Folk Performing Arts and Puppet Theater," published the "Puppet Theater Book Material Catalog" in 2013, and served as an editorial committee member for the "Japanese Doll Toy Dictionary" in 2019. After going independent, he moved to Kyoto. He is currently a professional coach, coaching various writers and creators, and is active in many areas, such as producing an online school with education reformer Kazuhiro Fujiwara. While working in various entertainment industries, he was struck by puppetry. He was attracted to puppetry, which moves the hearts of viewers as objects come to life in front of their eyes, and has studied puppetry in Japan, the United States, France, and other parts of the world.
