Infertility is understood as the inability of a couple to achieve a pregnancy after one year of active sexual life, without the use of contraceptives. In Chile, it affects approximately 15% of couples of childbearing age and although there has been progress in new treatments to achieve pregnancies, little is said about mental health during this stage. The impact that the diagnosis of infertility has on the couple is described as a vital crisis, which is influenced by several factors, and results in great emotional wear and tear, due to its cyclical nature, where the experience of hope and failure is repeated over and over again.
