The lecture is focused on crimes committed in the heat of the moment. It explains the impact of a state of strong emotional agitation on the punishment, the mechanisms that drive a person at that time, and to what extent such a person is aware of their own actions. The subject of expert opinions by psychologists, whose role is extremely important in such cases, and the difficulties they encounter during court and procedural proceedings, will also be discussed. About the speaker: Dr. Bogdan Lach – counselor of the Criminal Division of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Katowice. Court expert in psychology, specialist in crimes related to the use of violence. In the years 1994-1996 an officer of the Prison Service. Since 1996 an expert of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Bielsko-Biała, and then in 1998 a coordinator of the Psychologists' Team of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Katowice. Since 2005 a counselor in the Criminal Division. In his career so far, he has created over 300 psychological and forensic profiles of n/n perpetrators of various crime categories. For his achievements, he was awarded the Golden Cross of Merit and the Badge of Meritorious Police Officer. The first police profiler to develop his profiling method since 1996. Member of the Polish Forensic Society and the Polish Psychological Society. Author of two books on investigative psychology and forensics and dozens of publications on investigative psychology in domestic and foreign journals. About the project: Strefa Psyche SWPS is an innovative undertaking whose aim is to popularize psychological knowledge at the highest substantive level and to discover the possibilities of action offered by psychology in various spheres of both private and professional life.
