Women play an important role in the management of natural resources including in the fisheries sector. The role of women can be seen through the regulation of operational costs, procurement of supplies, and involvement in the marketing and processing of fish. However, in general, the community has not fully realized how important the role of women is in this sector. Women are not only involved as workers and paid, but also as 'invisible' and unpaid workers in carrying out various tasks and responsibilities. They make significant contributions to this industry, but are underrepresented, underrecognized, unpaid or underpaid and have little say in decision-making at all levels.
