In this video I will tell you how to prune a tree hydrangea to get different sized inflorescences and control the flowering time of the hydrangea. Pruning a tree hydrangea is not such a difficult task. You just need to know the basic rules for pruning it, and there are only three of them: If you want to get a lush bush of a tree hydrangea with small inflorescences, but with a large number of them, then do a long pruning, i.e. cut off only the inflorescences. A hydrangea pruned in this way will bloom at the earliest possible time. To make the inflorescences slightly larger, then remove 1/4 - 1/3 of the shoot along with the inflorescence. Such a hydrangea will bloom a little later - on average, in the first ten days of July. Well, in order to get large inflorescences, the shoots of the tree hydrangea need to be cut even lower, but no more than 50 cm from the ground. This hydrangea will bloom later, but the caps of its inflorescences will be very large. I will tell you about other secrets and pitfalls in pruning tree hydrangeas in this video. #PruningTreeHydrangea
