Tempers have been boiling for two months in Győrszentiván, a city of 12,000 inhabitants, culminating in a heated public forum on September 20. At an event organized in connection with the planned expansion of the Győrszentiván industrial park, approximately a thousand residents wanted to get answers about the “significantly disruptive” industrial investment ordered by the government, but the government and local government participants present were unable to provide any meaningful answers to their questions. However, the locals do not want a battery factory or any other dangerous, environmentally damaging plant near their residential area.
