Jacob, who lived in the city of Fedan in Babylon, had been shepherding the flock of his uncle (Laban), who was the governor of that city, for a long time. The idolatrous people of Fedan made offerings to Ishtar, the mother goddess of Babylon, for rain, and attributed the reason why there was no rain in this city to the gods' displeasure with what Jacob had done. Jacob, on the other hand, told the people in the city of Fedan to believe in one God and not to associate partners with Him. However, despite all their anger, the people of Fedan could not do anything to Jacob because they were afraid of the governor Laban. One day, they sentenced one of the people of Fedan who despised the gods to death in order to intimidate Jacob. But just as he is about to be thrown into the fire, Jacob saves the man by giving him blood money. This behavior brings about the belief of the prisoner and his wife. Raheel, one of Jacob's four wives, becomes pregnant after many years. However, the child is never born. Jacob goes to the date palm to pray to Allah.
