District heating is always mentioned in the same breath as heat pumps when it comes to the heat transition. Our guest, Prof. Volker Quaschning, doubts the potential of district heating for the heat transition and explains why #districtheating is still so harmful to the climate at the moment and which energy sources can be used to make it green in the future. Since Robert Habeck's #HeatingAct and Building Energy Act, sales of #gas heating systems have even increased and #oil heating systems have continued to be installed. At the same time, the market for #heat pumps has no longer grown as predicted and as is also essential for the heat transition. Prof. Quaschning tries to explain this phenomenon. Especially against the background of a sharp rise in CO2 prices and thus significantly rising #gas prices in the next few years and the requirement to use a proportion of renewable energy in gas and oil heating systems from 2029. In the Geladen podcast, Patrick Rosen and Daniel Messling and their guests discuss the topics of #energytransition, #electromobility, #electriccar and #battery from a scientific perspective. The podcast is produced by the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT).
