Can perfectly serviceable Bosch #pump-#injectors cause problems? Yes! The owner of a Volkswagen Passat B5 1.9 TDI (AVB engine) was convinced of this from his own experience. After purchasing the car, the owner began to be annoyed by the fact that the car accelerated very sluggishly up to 2 thousand. At the same time, fuel consumption was significantly higher than normal. People involved in diagnostics blamed the flow meter, or the pressure sensor that measures boost. Replacing these sensors did not solve the problem. The turbine was removed for inspection and cleaning of the geometry, and the pump-injectors were also removed for testing. Both the turbine and the injectors were in normal condition. Someone even advised reflashing the engine control unit - what if the firmware crashed and that was the whole problem? But the reflashing measures did not fix the situation. It turns out that the previous owner of the Volkswagen Passat B5, for some reason, installed pump-injectors with the number 038 130 073 BN. But the AVB engine should have 038 130 073 AJ.
