Music therapy is the targeted use of music within the therapeutic relationship to restore, maintain and promote mental, physical and spiritual health. And Dr. Mag. Gerhard Tucek is an expert in this field. Can music heal? How can music be used therapeutically? What creates the specific effect? Do vibrations have an inherent power? Dr. Mag. Gerhard Tucek is a cultural and social anthropologist, cultural scientist, music therapist and professor at the IMC University of Applied Sciences Krems. He was part of the advisory team for the legal anchoring of the profession of music therapy by the Federal Ministry of Health and Women in 2009. He then focused on establishing a scientifically based training (BSc, MSc) and developing a practical research path for clinical music therapy at the IMC University of Applied Sciences Krems. In clinical practice as a music therapist, Tucek concentrated on the areas of neurorehabilitation, pediatric oncology and intensive care medicine. In-depth research projects led to the establishment of the Josef Ressel Center for the Foundation of Personalized Music Therapy (2016-2022). He is currently working on establishing a burnout prevention program for nursing staff using music therapy approaches and has headed the Institute for Therapy and Midwifery Sciences at the IMC FH Krems since 2016. The focus of most music therapy directions is active music therapy. Through active action, feelings can be expressed on a non-verbal level and made audible to oneself and the other person. In receptive music therapy, the focus is on absorbing the vibrations. Immerse yourself in this podcast. Immerse yourself in the fascinating world of music therapy.
