Village policeman Joachim Albers is facing a special challenge: Ludwig is to go to prison for 600 days because he has not paid his fine for tax evasion. Despite desperate efforts to get the money together, his only option is to go to Lingen correctional facility. During the transport it becomes clear that the whole family is affected - his wife is also struggling with fine proceedings. Albers accompanies this insight into rural East Frisia, where a man's fate depends on a final, desperate payment. ► A SPIEGEL TV film from October 6, 2003.
