The first time it happened in Indonesia. A prisoner escaped from a Correctional Institution (Lapas) by digging a 30-meter tunnel, without being detected! The excavation process was carried out for 8 months using simple tools. However, the excavated soil, which is estimated to be the equivalent of 2 trucks, was not discovered. Cai Changpan alias Cai Ji Fan (53), a death row convict for a drug case, escaped from Tangerang Class 1 Prison on September 14. However, Cai's escape was only realized by officers 11 hours later. Based on CCTV footage, Cai walked out of a drain in a residential area outside the prison walls at 02.30 WIB. Then, Cai moved towards his wife's house in Tenjo District, on the border of Tangerang Regency and Bogor Regency. A special joint team was deployed to search for the former Chinese soldier.
