On around 350 days a year, the 200-person community of Wacken is a manageable patch of earth surrounded by fields and meadows. On the remaining 15 days, the largest metal festival in the world is set up and for three days 150 bands play on the eight stages - and this is already the 28th time. Over the years, the festival has grown from 800 to over 75,000 metalheads. While the technical equipment at the time still fit on a truck, the festival has now become a major technical event with many logistical challenges.
