In September, the annual Preparedness Week begins, which aims to increase citizens' participation and commitment to preparedness. The theme for 2024 is Get started, a quote taken from the Minister for Civil Defence, Carl-Oskar Bohlins, speech at the People and Defense National Conference in Sälen in January. The minister urged actors within the preparedness system to quickly strengthen their preparedness, here and now, instead of waiting for the perfect conditions. Good enough tomorrow is better than perfect in five years, as the minister put it. The minister urged us private individuals to take responsibility for our home preparedness and if we have the opportunity to get involved in a volunteer organization. Something that requires participation from the individual, while also requiring a voluntary organization to get involved. It is required that there are resources, organization and drive to harness the good forces that commitment entails. At the seminar, we will highlight various good examples of how to work to engage and strengthen the preparedness of the population in the broadest sense. People and Defense invites you to a public seminar on Friday 20 September, that is, the week before the official preparedness week starts. We thought we'd start a little earlier!
