Start of preliminary work on the construction of the Mexico-Querétaro passenger train. Sunday, October 13, 2024 President Claudia Sheinbaum. Today we gave the go-ahead for the construction of the Mexico-Querétaro Train, which will be completed in three years. The Ministries of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation; Environment and Natural Resources; and National Defense will be responsible for this project that will benefit 5.6 million inhabitants of Mexico City, the State of Mexico, Hidalgo, and Querétaro. This train will use a special track for passengers and another separate track for freight transport; the main stations will be in Buenavista, in Mexico City, and San Juan del Río, in Querétaro. The protection of natural sanctuaries is guaranteed. The Felipe Ángeles Engineering Group of the Ministry of National Defense will begin construction of the Mexico-Querétaro Train in April 2025. The second stage of the project includes two new lines heading north of the country: Nogales, Sonora, and Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas. We met with Querétaro authorities to collaborate on water and energy supply projects for the benefit of the people. We remember the three new social programs that will be implemented in 2025: House-to-House Health, which will hire 21,000 nurses and doctors to care for the elderly in their homes; the universal scholarship for elementary school students in public schools; and the Well-being Support for women aged 60 to 64. Let us never forget that this is a time of transformation and of women.
