Article about Poznań: https://poznajekraje.pl/2022/12/19/zw... We invite you to visit Poznań. There are many interesting places in this city that are worth seeing when coming to the capital of Wielkopolska for a weekend or a one-day trip. When visiting Poznań, you cannot miss the Renaissance town hall building, which is associated with the symbol of the city, the billy goats. Every day at 12 noon, two billy goats appear above the clock, knocking their horns 12 times. Not far from the market square is the Poznań Fara. It is worth going inside and taking a look at the beautifully decorated Baroque interior. The Old Town is also the Royal Castle built on Przemysł Hill. The castle tower is one of the best viewpoints in Poznań. You can also visit the Museum of Applied Arts. One of the non-obvious attractions of Poznań is the most beautiful shopping mall we have been to, the Stary Browar Gallery, which was built on the site of a brewery founded by the Hugger brothers. The buildings also house a hotel and an art gallery. We combined our visit to Poznań with a visit to the Poznań Bethlehem, because we came to the capital of Wielkopolska in December. Christmas markets are held at Plac Wolności, Plac Kolegiacki, Rynek Łazarski and the Poznań International Fair. These are some of the most beautiful Christmas markets in Europe. At the markets, you can taste Christmas delicacies, drink mulled wine or hot chocolate, buy original gifts for your loved ones and take part in artistic performances, workshops for children and concerts. There is also no shortage of attractions in the form of several carousels for the youngest, a viewing wheel and an ice rink. If you are planning a weekend in Poznań in the pre-Christmas period, it is worth choosing the date of the Poznań Ice Festival, an event during which you can admire the work of ice sculptors and frosty works of art. They look best after dark, because then they are beautifully illuminated. Poznań Ice Festival is an event that is definitely worth taking part in. Our sightseeing plan for Poznań also includes the Castle District, a complex of several buildings, including the Imperial Castle, the Grand Theatre and the Poznań Philharmonic. In front of the castle, you can see an interesting monument covered in a multitude of numbers. It commemorates three Polish cryptologists who contributed to deciphering the German Enigma cipher machine. If you are interested in this topic, be sure to visit the Enigma Cipher Centre, which is located nearby. Sightseeing in Poznań also includes Ostrów Tumski, the oldest part of the city, where one of the first castles was founded. On Ostrów Tumski, there is the oldest cathedral in Poland, the Archcathedral Basilica of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul, where the first rulers of Poland from the Piast dynasty were buried. It is worth going across the Bishop Jordan Bridge to the Śródka district, which used to be a separate city. Currently, on the wall of one of the tenement houses you can see a three-dimensional, colourful mural that tells the story of Śródka. On the wall of another tenement house, an installation made of gutters entitled "Green Symphony" was created. The Śródka district is one of the most interesting places in our guide to Poznań. It is worth ending your visit to Poznań and Śródka at the ICHOT Poznań Gate, taking part in a multimedia exhibition devoted to the history of Ostrów Tumski. Later, you can use the footbridge leading through the Cathedral Lock, which is part of the Poznań Fortress. If you are wondering what else is worth seeing in Poznań, and you like nature, take a walk in the area of Poznań's largest reservoir, Lake Malta. It is a great place for a trip at any time of year. In the season, you can take the Maltanka narrow-gauge train right up to the gate of the New ZOO, which is a great attraction, not only for children. Green areas are also another big attraction in Poznań, namely the Citadel Park, which was built on the site of the former Winiary Fort. The park is home to the Armament Museum and the Army Museum, which are worth a visit if you are interested in military items. While walking through the park, you will definitely come across an intriguing art installation that depicts figures without heads and arms, which look as if they are walking in different directions. "Unrecognized" is the largest outdoor installation by the artist Małgorzata Abakanowicz. Of course, we encourage you to discover the attractions of Poznań on your own.
