Hello, everyone! Welcome to another video on our study channel. Today, we will focus on some Geography topics that are included in the Correios exam. We will explore essential content for those who are preparing, such as cartography, physical aspects of Brazil, spatial organization and much more. Let's go? 1. Basic Notions of Cartography Cartography is essential for understanding geographic space. We will highlight three important aspects: 1.1. Orientation: Cardinal Points The cardinal points are essential for navigation and orientation. They are: North (N), South (S), East (E or E) and West (W or W). In addition, we have parallel points, such as Northeast, Southeast, Northwest and Southwest, which complement our notion of direction. 1.2. Location: Geographic Coordinates Geographic coordinates allow us to locate any point on the Earth's surface. Latitude: Distance in degrees from the Equator (0º), ranging from 0º to 90º in the northern and southern hemispheres. Longitude: Distance in degrees from the Greenwich Meridian (0º), ranging from 0º to 180º, dividing the planet into east and west. Altitude: Height of a point in relation to sea level. 1.3. Representation: Reading, Scale, Legends and Conventions A map always presents scales that indicate the relationship between the real size and the represented size. Remember this: Large scale shows more details (as in a map of a city). Small scale covers larger areas, with less details (as in a world map). Legends and conventions help to interpret symbols, cores and lines on maps, essential for their correct reading.
