Some of the world's biggest car manufacturers have been working on technology that could help save the internal combustion engine. From Porsche to Toyota and even Ferrari, several manufacturers have been exploring new ways to ensure that the internal combustion engine doesn't cease to exist as more regulations are introduced in the coming years. But what kind of technology have they been working on? Well, one of the most exciting innovations comes from Porsche, with patents for a brand new 6-stroke petrol engine! There are a lot of technical details included with the patents, but this brand new design seems to help radically increase power thanks to there being two strokes of power in every three revolutions. With this in mind, not only is power increased, but it also means that emissions will also decrease at the same time. But that's not all, both Ferrari and Toyota have filed patents and come up with technology that makes use of hydrogen fuel. For example, patents reveal that Ferrari is working on a supercar that would feature a hydrogen-powered internal combustion engine. It’s clear that the development of such a system is at a very early stage, but hydrogen fuel offers some great advantages, mainly the fact that no carbon dioxide is expelled from the car, so it’s a real game-changer when it comes to reducing emissions. The only problem is that, if we’re going by the modern network, we might have trouble finding a place to refuel… But what do you think? Could Porsche’s new patents help save the internal combustion engine? Let us know in the comments! Instagram – /carwow Tiktok – /carwow Facebook – /carwowuk Twitter – /carwowuk
