Transforming one signal into another is very important. This is what the Fourier transform does. It transforms an original signal in time into a signal in frequency, separating them. This gives us a very special condition to analyze them separately and find each defect in our system. What are modulations? It is the process of varying one or more properties of a signal (such as amplitude, frequency or phase) as a function of another signal. In vibration analysis, modulation occurs when a specific frequency in the vibration signal is influenced by another frequency. Types of Modulation: 1. Amplitude Modulation (AM): The amplitude of a main frequency is altered by a modulating frequency. This creates variations in the intensity of the vibration. 2. Frequency Modulation (FM): The frequency of the main vibration is altered by a modulating frequency. This results in variations in the speed of the vibration.
