We are sharing with you the single-part version (4 episodes) of the podcast series we created about the 2nd Siege of Vienna, a turning point in Ottoman history. Our story begins with the Ottoman state in the 17th century. The Ottoman Empire begins to recover from the painful situation of the first half of the 1600s with the arrival of the old statesman Köprülü Mehmet Pasha to the Grand Vizier position in 1656. The second representative of the process that Köprülü Mehmet started, known as the Köprülüler Era and continued for nearly half a century, is Köprülü Fazıl Ahmet Pasha. With the early death of Fazıl Ahmet Pasha, the leading actor of our story, Merzifonlu Kara Mustafa Pasha, will come to the Grand Vizier position. He will leave his mark on Turkish history with the steps he takes and the decisions he makes. The Turks, who reached the gates of Vienna in 1683, will face a relentless retreat.
