Our tour today is in POÇOS DE CALDAS / MG. We went to visit Christ the Redeemer, Pedra Balloon and the Paragliding Ramp, all in the Serra de São Domingos. We also walked around part of the city center. Poços de Caldas is a city in the state of Minas Gerais. The inhabitants are called Poços-Caldas. The municipality extends over 547.3 km² and had 167,397 inhabitants in the last census. The population density is 305.9 inhabitants per km² in the municipality's territory. Neighboring the municipalities of Bandeira do Sul, Águas da Prata and Divinolândia Located at an altitude of 1,210 meters, Poços de Caldas has the following geographic coordinates: Latitude: 21° 47' 18'' South, Longitude: 46° 33' 45'' West. The Christ the Redeemer statue in Poços de Caldas was inaugurated on May 13, 1958. It is located at the top of the largest ecological heritage site in Poços de Caldas, the Serra de São Domingos. It is 30 meters high, which is equivalent to a building with about 10 floors. The pieces that make up the image were divided into 5 trucks and traveled at least 160 km from Campinas to Poços de Caldas. The total weight of the monument is 500 tons, approximately the same as a small cargo ship or a large airplane. The image of Christ the Redeemer alone weighs 120 tons, approximately the weight of 60 adult blue whales. Each hand of the image weighs 400 kg, which corresponds to the weight of 8 large suitcases full. For those who prefer a more practical route, there is the Pedra Balão Road. Leaving the city center, if taken by car, the route is approximately 4.0 km long and can be completed in an average time of 10 minutes. Pedra Balão, a curious monument sculpted by nature, is the result of wind and rain erosion. It is located in the Serra de São Domingos, near the Christ the Redeemer statue. This is a private tourist spot and comprises a set of large, overlapping rocks, approximately 10 meters high, from where you can see a unique landscape. There is a bar and a kiosk on site, selling souvenirs from the area. Poços de Caldas is blessed with mountainous landscapes that are even more beautiful when seen from above. This is the purpose of one of the tourist attractions in Poços de Caldas: the Paragliding Ramp. The experience is done using a paraglider, a piece of equipment that can carry up to two people but who remain seated throughout the flight. The initial jump takes place on the paragliding ramp located at the top of the 1,600 meters of Serra São Domingos. We really enjoyed this tour and the weather helped a lot with spectacular sunshine and a blue sky, making the tour even more beautiful and giving more color to everything we showed. Good entertainment for everyone!!!
