The plum is a subspecies of the plum (Prunus domestica) - strictly speaking, a plum is also a plum, just like the mirabelle plum or the greengage, for example. When shopping, however, "plums" usually refers to the round, blue, red or yellow fruits with a smooth, shiny skin. Plums, on the other hand, are long and dark to black-blue. Their skin is also usually "frosted" - that is, covered with a natural protective layer of fruit wax. In northern Germany, the term "plum" is not common; there, the long fruits are also called plums. HOW HEALTHY ARE PLUMS AND DUMBS? What sets them apart is the enormous range of healthy ingredients. They contain potassium, calcium, iron, magnesium and zinc, as well as vitamin C, vitamin E, B vitamins and provitamin A. Their high fiber content aids digestion - and also helps to lower cholesterol levels. PLUMS AGAINST CONSTIPATION You can see in the video how plums can help against constipation and whether dried plums are just as healthy.
