The Objetivo Planeta programme directed and hosted by Lorenzo Milá is this time focusing on plastic recycling. He tells us that around 450 million tonnes of plastic are produced every year and half of it ends up in landfills, 19% is incinerated and only 9% is recycled. The rest is in nature in all sizes, including microplastics and nanoplastics, which are even in the air we breathe. The problem is so serious that a few days ago the world met at a summit in South Korea to find solutions, a UN summit like the COP on climate change, but on plastics.
