Pizzo Arera belongs to the Bergamo Orobie Prealps and acts as a “watershed” between the Seriana Valley and the Brembana Valley. At 2,512 metres above sea level, it is a popular destination for hikers due to its spectacular views, which range from the Bergamo Orobie to the central Alps and the Po Valley. We started from the Plassa car park, in Zambla Alta (BG) at an altitude of around 1,140 m. If you want and pay a €4 ticket, you can go up to the highest car park at 1,548 m. Up to this second car park, you climb with a constant gradient, following the road for some stretches. Then a beautiful and pleasant climb will begin to the “Capanna 2000” refuge at 1,960 m. From here, the climb becomes decidedly more challenging and at an altitude of 2,400 m, it will lead us to face a short, steep and equipped section. With a final effort, you reach the summit at 2,512 m where the view will repay you for the effort made. The event that made this excursion unforgettable was the close encounter with a Golden Eagle that I managed to film in flight for a few seconds. Beautiful. In total there will be 1,350m of positive difference in altitude for a length of about 11km. GPS track: Check out this route from @Wikiloc! https://it.wikiloc.com/percorsi-escur...
