University of Trento - Center for Mind/Brain Sciences - CIMEC Neuroscience&Society Artificial thought November 15, 2016 @ 6:30 pm Aula Magna, Palazzo Istruzione, Corso Bettini 84, Rovereto http://webmagazine.unitn.it/en/evento... http://www.polorovereto.unitn.it/serv... prof. Piergiorgio Odifreddi Artificial thought Turing conceived the computer as a mechanical model of the mind. Following the theoretical and practical development of computer science, especially in the field of Artificial Intelligence, today the tables have turned and the mind can be considered as a biological model of the computer. More generally, an analogy can be developed between hardware and software on the one hand, and body and mind on the other, which can be instructive and stimulating for both the biological and computer science points of view. The Neuroscience&Society series of meetings aims to stimulate an interdisciplinary discussion on the social relevance of neuroscience, whose research reflects and shapes the opinions and attitudes of citizens, and on its present and future impact on our lives. The meetings are organized by the Mind/Brain Center (CIMeC) of the University of Trento, in collaboration with the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Trento e Rovereto. They will see the participation of professionals with various backgrounds, on topics dear to the public opinion, such as those concerning the relationship between the advances of scientific discoveries and the consequences on society.
