Jean Piaget was a Swiss biologist and psychologist, born in 1896 and died in 1980. In previous videos about the author, we studied a little about genetic epistemology, which is precisely the theory of learning proposed by him. In this video, we will continue our studies and learn about the stages of development described by Piaget. This is one of the most interesting parts of his theory. Piaget states that all people go through four stages of cognitive development: the sensorimotor stage, which goes from birth to 2 years of age; the pre-operational stage, which extends from 2 years to 6 or 7; the concrete-operational stage, from 6 or 7 years to 11 or 12; and the formal-logical stage, from 12 years onwards. In each of these stages, thought is organized in a specific way. According to Piaget, it is not possible to skip stages or go backwards. All people go through all the stages in the same sequence. ------------------------------------------- Suggested works: “Jean Piaget” by Thomas Kesselring. “Piaget: theory and practice” by PG Richmond. “Human Learning”, 6th ed., by Jeanne Ellis Ormrod.
