Phu Phra Bat Historical Park, Tambon Mueang Phan, Amphoe Ban Phue, Udon Thani Province is a source of human civilization since prehistoric times, continuing for many eras. Until one period, this place stepped into a religious area that shows traces of the Sima culture. The discovery of a large number of sandstone Sima leaves, one of the largest in the world, made Phu Phra Bat Historical Park declared by UNESCO as the 5th World Cultural Heritage Site of Thailand, emphasizing what is called "Sima culture, which is an important evidence showing the Buddhist beliefs and practices that are unique to the land of Southeast Asia." The highlight of Phu Phra Bat is the beginning of the appearance of the Sima culture, which is believed that the influence of Buddhism spread from the central part of Thailand to the northeastern region around the 12th-13th Buddhist century, which is the Dvaravati period. This is why in the past, the Sima culture found on Phu Phra Bat, including the entire northeastern region, was often called "Dvaravati Isan", which is quite a distorted fact. That is because this is considered a unique characteristic found densely only in the northeastern region and does not appear in the Dvaravati city in the central region at all. Join the journey with history outside the textbooks. To explore the Sima culture in the Isan region, a total of 35 sites in 9 provinces, so that we can understand the unique culture that once flourished in the Isan region, Thailand.
