In the fifth of our seminar series, we will read Sartre’s dialogue between Husserl and Heidegger through the issue of difference. This initiative will enable us to address the relationship between existence and freedom presented in Being and Nothingness. Emre Şan completed his undergraduate education at Galatasaray University, and his master’s and doctorate at Paris 1 Panthéon Sorbonne. After his doctorate, Emre Şan conducted postdoctoral research at the Ecole Normale Supérieur. His book on the problem of transcendence in phenomenology was published with a foreword by Renaud Barbaras and with the Institut Universitaire de France award (Paris, Mimesis, 2012). The author, whose articles have appeared in national and international journals and book series in Turkish, French, English and Spanish, has published compilations on Contemporary French Philosophy. The author, who is on the editorial board of the journal Cogito, was awarded the Prix Mercier philosophy award given every two years by L’Université Catholique de Louvain (UCL). Emre Şan works as an Associate Professor at Istanbul 29 Mayıs University.
