The Stellantis 1.2-liter PureTech three-cylinder engine, launched in 2012, has suffered from excessive oil consumption and premature deterioration of the timing belt. Stellantis is facing growing discontent in Europe, despite a change in the design of the belt in July 2022 and conditional support for the replacement. To appease customers, Stellantis is extending the warranty on certain PureTech engines to 10 years or 175,000 kilometers, subject to the maintenance plan being followed.
