Pescasseroli (/peskasˈsɛroli/[4]; A Péšchë or Zë Péšchë in Pescasserolese dialect respectively for men and women[5]) is an Italian town of 2,083 inhabitants[1] in the province of L'Aquila in Abruzzo. It is the seat of the management body of the Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise National Park. Considered the main center of the Abruzzo National Park, Pescasseroli is a nice and lively town able to offer a stay full of history, nature and relaxation. Known for being a very versatile location that attracts tourists throughout the year, Pescasseroli is located at 1167 meters above sea level at the foot of Monte delle Vitelle. The environment and climate of Pescasseroli make the city an ideal destination in winter when it is possible to ski at the ski-area of this location which is also connected to the Alto Sangro area. Its historical, cultural and natural heritage, however, in summer conquers all those who love outdoor activities. In 2017, five groups of ancient beech forests that fall within an area of over 1000 hectares between the municipalities of Pescasseroli, Lecce nei Marsi, Opi and Villavallelonga were declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The historic city center is a place of great charm characterized by narrow streets, stately buildings and artisan workshops that produce traditional local items. Many buildings were built in local stone, also called "pietra gentile" from the name of one of the mountains that surround the town. - https://turismo.abruzzo.it/laquila/pe...
