Andes Mountain Range The Andes Mountain Range is the longest continental mountain range on the globe. This is a continuous range of mountains that border almost the entire western coast of South America. Its extension covers more than 7,000 km, with the width of the chain varying from 200 to 700 km, and it reaches an altitude that on average reaches around 4,000 m. With this remarkable extension, the Andes obviously occupy the territory of several countries, seven in total: Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Chile and Argentina. Its highest point is the Aconcagua peak, located in Argentine territory, which reaches an altitude of 6,962 m. Incas The Incas lived from approximately 3000 BC to 1500 AD in Peru, Chile, Bolivia and Ecuador, more specifically in the Andes Mountains. The current indigenous people of Peru are descendants of the Incas. These people became known throughout the world for their culture and tradition, for the gold objects they made, for the use of stones in their works such as mountain roads, irrigation canals, etc. The Incas were polytheists, meaning they believed in several gods, such as thunder, the moon, the sea, the sun, etc. They sacrificed animals and humans in honor of the gods they worshipped. The capital of the Inca Empire was called Cusco, and there was the largest temple to the Sun god, the main god of the Inca religion. Inca society was divided into three groups, which were organized hierarchically, forming a pyramid: at the base were the yanaconas, who were slaves selected to protect their masters; in the middle of the pyramid were the nobles who were members of the Inca family or descendants of clan leaders; and the priests, called the “Great Inca”, were at the top of the pyramid and worshipped the Sun. They were responsible for religious cults and the education of young people. Men married at twenty and women at sixteen. They themselves chose who to marry and, when they performed the ceremony, they received land to live on. Sacred Valley of the Incas, Peru The Sacred Valley of the Incas, in the Peruvian Andes, is made up of numerous rivers that flow through small valleys; it has numerous archaeological monuments and indigenous villages. The main river is the Urubamba. This valley was highly valued by the Incas due to its special geographical and climatic qualities. It was one of the main production points due to the richness of its lands and the place where the best corn grain in Peru is produced. Rainbow Mountains, Peru The Rainbow Mountain is known to the Peruvian people as K'ayrawire Wininkunka or Vinicunca, a name that in the Quechua language means “colored neck”. It also goes by the names Cerro Colorado and Montaña de 7 Colores in Spanish. In Portuguese, it can be called Rainbow Mountain, 7 Colors Mountain or Colorful Mountain. According to the locals, the mountain was covered by ice and snow from a glacier that melted a few years ago due to global warming. As a result, Rainbow Mountain was revealed, which is now one of the main tourist attractions in Cusco. The colors of Vinicunca are a reaction of various minerals to water and oxygen, which did not happen when they were protected by the glacier. The people of the region are quite poor and saw an opportunity to generate income with the increase in tourism in the area. Therefore, they welcome everyone who arrives very warmly, almost always with a smile on their face. Pitumarca, Peru Pitumarca is located southeast of Cusco and north of the province of Canchis, to which it belongs. It is a small town with about 9,500 inhabitants, but with first-class tourist attractions: ????Colorful Mountains ????Tample de San Miguel ????Machu Archaeological Complex Pitumarca Still in its infancy, there is also the Ch'acco Huayllascca Climbing Park. The place is home to one of the largest limestone climbing paradises in South America.
