Groningen is the poorest city in the Netherlands after Amsterdam and Rotterdam. This is evident from figures from CBS and Urban Data Center. But what does it mean to be poor? How is it possible that there is so much poverty in Groningen? What is the social impact? Documentary maker Colin Mooijman of OOGTV looks for the problems and solutions to the poverty issue in Groningen. “I have lived and worked in this beautiful city for about 15 years. I am shocked every time I see the lists in which Groningen is among the top three poorest cities in the Netherlands. How on earth is that possible, I think.
