What do we know about the historical personality of the Prophet of Islam? To what extent is what we know mixed with legend? What are our main sources for knowing Muhammad bin Abdullah and to what extent are they historically authentic? One of the oldest non-Islamic documents related to the life of the Prophet of Islam shows us that two years after the death of Muhammad bin Abdullah, the emergence of a religious leadership among the Arabs was announced in Byzantium. If we accept this document, a document about the value of which there is little doubt, then we can say that the Prophet of Islam is the only prophet that his contemporaries wrote about him. This is only one of the sources of encouragement for Muslims about their Prophet. But what do such documents actually say about Muhammad? To what extent what we know today is the result of reliable documents and findings and to what extent is it the result of evidence that is the subject of controversy? How clear are the three main sources of Muslims to know their prophet, hadiths, Quran and archeological findings, and to what extent can they reconstruct the Prophet of Islam historically? To what extent is such a reconstruction possible? According to Harald Motzky, one of the prominent researchers of Islamic hadiths, if the existing hadiths are used critically, it will no longer be possible to write the biography of the Prophet of Islam. According to another researcher, these hadiths are the result of developments after the Prophet's death and emerged as a result of the ideological and political conflicts of the Umayyad and Abbasid periods, and as a result, they are not useful for the historical understanding of the Prophet of Islam. On this basis, is it possible to express doubts about an important part of what is said about the Prophet of Islam?
