Svjetlana Zelić lives with her family in Pokrajčići near Travnik. Her biggest problem is a 400-year-old pedunculate oak tree with a circumference of 430 centimeters. As the oak tree has begun to dry out from the top, its branches are increasingly falling into the yard of a house that is much smaller than this giant. Svjetlana and her husband Zoran fear that the oak tree will destroy their house, so they are looking for someone to cut it down and save them from their worries because they are poor and could not build a new house. This is especially pronounced when strong winds blow. In return, they give all the wood from the oak tree, which is in fairly good condition at the base. An expert from the Faculty of Forestry in Sarajevo claims that it would be enough to cut down only the dry branches and the tree would continue to live because it is well preserved. Estimates are that the oak tree weighs between 10 and 15 tons, and the Zelić family collects up to two tons of acorns from under it every year, which are eaten by the sheep from their pen. Bosnia and Herzegovina had the oldest pedunculate oak tree in the world. It was 1,500 years old and was destroyed by the villagers of Rankovići near Novo Travnik because they cut its veins and took away the source of water that fed it.
