Pelvic congestion syndrome: It is one of the causes of chronic pelvic pain in women. It is the formation of varicose veins around the uterus due to the reverse flow of blood in this vein, i.e. reflux or leakage due to insufficiency of the valves of the ovarian vein. Varicose veins around the uterus are easily recognized with transvaginal ultrasound, computerized tomography and MR (MRI) imaging. These varicose veins manifest in patients as pain, fullness, burning sensation, frequent urination and pain during or after intercourse in the lower abdomen. If there are varicose veins around the uterus along with these complaints, they are easily treated with embolization.
