Two 30-minute contributions will first provide an insight into the history of the philosophical problem of the physics of the microworld, from which pseudoscience still benefits today, and in contrast to it we will then look at the form of serious research in the field of particle physics at the Charles University Institute of Physics and at CERN. The presentations will be followed by a discussion with the audience. Radek Žemlička graduated from the Masaryk University in Brno in the field of General Physics and the subsequent master's and doctoral programs in Plasma Physics. Nowadays, he is engaged in physical simulations and experiments as a Scientist at the Swiss company Evatec AG, which develops plasma technologies for the creation of chips, semiconductors and electromagnetic filters. His hobbies include philosophy of knowledge and, for example, he completed a semester course in Philosophy of Science organized by Oxford University. In his free time, he also creates on YouTube on the channel Maxwell's Demons. Pavel Váňa was born in 1997 in Uherské Hradiště. He graduated in General Physics at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics of Charles University in Prague. He then continued his studies in particle and nuclear physics in his master's degree and now his doctoral studies at the Faculty of Physics and Chemistry of Charles University. He is studying the production of harmonies in heavy ion collisions at the Large Hadron Collider LHC at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) as part of the ATLAS collaboration. His hobbies include photography, fire sports and astronomy. For several years, he has been the leader of the Astronomical Expedition, a summer school of astronomy with a long tradition, and since 2021 he has been the chairman of the Amateur Sky Survey, a section of the Czech Astronomical Society.
