Celebrating Summer. Festive Sun at Midday is the title of a documentary produced by the Euskomedia Foundation and Eusko Ikaskuntza that completes the project started two years ago with Celebrating Winter. Heat, color and winter rhythms. In DVD format, the documentary is structured around some of the constants present in the Basque festival in the period from the ascent of the herds to the mountain pastures to their descent for the winter. Aspects such as fire, vegetables, parades, patronal and fishing festivals are covered, as well as other events from popular culture. Music: Txus Aranburu Eusko Ikaskuntza and Euskomedia Foundation have just released the documentary Celebrating Summer: Sun Festival for the Year. In addition to describing 25 significant summer events, their characteristics and foundations are explained so that people can learn about and understand the diversity and identity of the Basque festival. This 50-minute documentary, along with the pastoral processions of San Prudentzio or kaxarranka and the bonfires of San Juan Day, travels from one end of the Basque Country to the other, discovering old customs and acquiring new sensations.
