Throughout history, the hydrography of Hungary has changed almost beyond recognition. In place of the swamps, there are reservoirs and fish ponds, and in place of our largest floodplain, the saline Great Plain itself stretches out. Today, 75% of our lakes are artificial, and 90% of our floodplains are a thing of the past. However, wildlife had to adapt to this changing world, otherwise it would have faced extinction. Surprisingly, our artificial waters provide the last refuge for some rare aquatic life communities, and our former floodplains provide temporary shelter for hundreds of thousands of migratory birds during the winter flood. But this world is no longer controlled by nature, but by man... In the new nature film from the creators of the highly successful Wild Water: Aqua Hungarica, the man-made aquatic world is revealed in fantastic footage. From the crane migration in Hortobágy, through the hidden labyrinths of Lake Tisza and the marsh world of the Great Plain, to the jellyfish hiding in crystal-clear mine lakes.
