Alan was a mechanical lathe operator. Aladim formed duos with other partners and played for four years with João Mineiro and Marciano. In 1980, with the help of the singer Marciano, who took them to the CBS record label, they recorded their first LP. They would record one more LP with the same record label. With the closure of the country music sector of the record company, they ended up not recording for almost three years. Once again, with the help of Marciano, who took them to Copacabana, they made a successful LP with the song “Parabéns, amor”. On their second LP for Copacabana they sold almost a million records. In 1989, they recorded their fifth LP, which was released with an initial print run of 200 thousand copies, and went on to sell over 500 thousand copies. With that album, they began to reach an international audience, in Mexico, the United States, Japan and China. Around this time, they recorded an LP in Spanish that was well received in Canada, Italy, Mexico and Japan. The duo won three gold records and one platinum record. They were the first country music duo to make recordings aimed at children. Their biggest hits during this period were “A dois graus” and “Liguei pra dizer te amo”. The duo broke up in 1992, when Aladim died at the age of 35, due to complications from throat surgery. In 1995, Alan formed a new duo with Alex, with whom he recorded an album that was not well received. In the same year, he formed a new duo with Nando, also recording an unsuccessful album. In 1996, the Copacabana record label held a selection process to find a replacement to take on the name Aladim. The chosen one was Patrick, who had started his career singing Italian songs in São Paulo's nightlife. In 1999, the new duo released their first CD, “Sol e Lua”, by PlayArte Music, with highlights including the songs “Roupa Limpa, Cara Nova”, “Se For Para Me Traca Feliz” and “Me Desentor Louco”. Also in the same year, EMI released a compilation of the duo, comprising the series “Raízes Setanejas”.
