I've uploaded the second part of the video of the 1st Mt. Hiei International Trail Run held on May 30, 2015. The first half of the video was about crossing the mountains and valleys south of Enryakuji Temple in the sweltering heat, but the atmosphere changes completely after passing Yokotakayama, the midpoint of the second half. Mt. Hiei, a mountain of history and training. The forest on the north side gets deeper in the second half, and combined with the cloudy weather, we can now run on flat trails and forest roads with a cool breeze. In the midst of this tough training run, there are some exhilarating scenes that make it worthy of being called "This is a trail run!" After passing Yokotakayama and Nagaiyama, the toughest climb on the course, Lake Biwa begins to appear here and there from the ridgeline. As the title says, it's a long downhill run of 35 to 40 km that feels like it's heading straight into Lake Biwa! I made it all the way down in one go to make up for my poor performance in the first half. It was truly a "Counterattack! Plunge into Lake Biwa" race. At the end, I had a serious battle with a beautiful runner with great legs, and when I reached the finish line, I got to talk to Niwa, the women's winner; it was full of really nice surprises. I'd like to thank all the spectators who cheered me on at each of the race's bases, the staff who prepared water and food at the aid stations, and above all, the producer, Kaburaki Tsuyoshi, and the rest of the race management headquarters for organizing such a wonderful race here on Mt. Hiei. But... above all, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to all the runners who ran with me in this tough but fun race (regardless of whether they finished or dropped out). It was fun, everyone!
