Barbara Krajewska was born in Warsaw on Żelazna Street as Liliana Birnbaum. Her father, Jakub Birnbaum, was a chemist and co-owner of the Marcel cosmetics factory. Her mother, Sabina Birnbaum, was a teacher by education but mainly helped her husband in the factory. After the Warsaw ghetto was established, the family lived in a factory located on its territory. Barbara Krajewska was moved out of the ghetto in 1942 (her parents and older brother remained in the ghetto - their fate remains unknown) and throughout the occupation and after the war, until she got married, she lived with the Żbikowski family. She received Barbara Kotowska's birth certificate; she graduated from the Sisters of the Resurrection High School, then studied animal science; she worked first at Animeks, then at Rolimpex. She is currently retired.
