At the same time, we do not see good examples of how to behave in tense moments - when a child cries, screams, or we feel that he is ignoring us. It is therefore good to clarify what we are actually dealing with in our relationship with the child. "People who plan to have children together should have discussions about values. They should talk about what they want to pass on to their children. But they usually talk more about the family rituals they experienced and the background of what they brought from the family they grew up in, so they can say what they don't want for their children. However, few people talk about what they want for their children and in what values it is reflected," says parenting and educational consultant Martina Vagačová, who runs effective parenting courses and is also the author of the book "How to Survive Parenting". In the new episode of the Humanity podcast, Barbora Mareková talks with her about why it makes sense to show respect to children from birth - that is, even at a time when they themselves are not yet able to reciprocate it. They discuss why we adults are so stressed by children's crying and screaming, and why it doesn't matter how parents interpret their children's feelings and behavior. "If the children's behavior makes us angry, or if we feel that the child is ignoring us or provoking us, we have different feelings towards him than if we perceive that he has some real reason for what he is doing," says Martina Vagačová. They will also talk about why it is important to admit in front of the child if we have made a mistake and how to do it in order to heal and deepen our relationship.
