In the afternoon, I took off from the winch tow directly into the first thermal. This was followed by a wonderful summer thermal flight on July 21, 2013 over the typical landscape of the Münsterland. As a pilot, I explained my thoughts on how thermals are created and my tactics for finding the next thermal at many points. In the end, I was out for almost 2 hours and covered 35 km. A short but nice flatland flight. Perhaps it will be interesting for one or two thermal pilots to compare this with their flight planning. Feedback welcome.
