It has been held since 1990, addressing topics related to high school. The program is held for one week full time, from 9 am to 5 pm, independently in the months of January and July, during the school recess. Each of the program's modules is held simultaneously at IMPA and at partner institutions across the country. We currently have approximately 70 centers and 3,000 participating teachers. At IMPA, we have 150 students per module. Lectures are given in the morning and broadcast live via the Internet from IMPA to participating institutions in other states, using the infrastructure of the National Education and Research Network (RNP). In the afternoon, guided studies are conducted under the supervision of teachers from each center. This program resulted in a series of books specifically designed for high school teachers, published in the Mathematics Teacher Collection of the Brazilian Mathematics Society (SBM). In another phase, which had the support of the CAPES-FAPERJ program, the books entitled A Matemática do Ensino Médio – vol. 1, vol. 2 and vol. 3 were produced. Course Organization: The program is carried out in independent modules, which cover selected topics from the three grades of high school and some topics from elementary school. In each module, the activities take place during school breaks, in January and July. Training program: The group to be trained will have 150 teachers in the state of Rio de Janeiro and 50 to 100 teachers in the multiplication centers at universities in all Brazilian states. Each module consists of full-time training (from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.) for one week. The activities each day consist of lectures in the morning and group work in the afternoon. Location: Each of the program modules will be held simultaneously at IMPA and at partner institutions throughout the country. The lectures will be broadcast live, via the Internet, from IMPA to participating institutions in other states, using the infrastructure of the National Education and Research Network (RNP). Participating teachers will be able to send their questions during the classes, using a “chat” program. The afternoon activities will be conducted locally.
