The Panorama will discuss the historical role of museums, their importance and cultural role in today's society. In celebration of International Museum Day (May 18), the 16th Museum Week will take place from May 14 to 20, 2018. The event is an initiative of the Brazilian Institute of Museums (Ibram), which follows the theme defined by the International Council of Museums (Icom): Hyperconnected Museums. According to the Week's proposal, today's public is more demanding and segmented, and their relationship with museums is impacted by the advance of digital connectivity. Guests: Domingos Tadeu Chiarelli, professor of art history at the University of São Paulo, former chief curator of MAM and former director of MAC-USP and Pinacoteca de São Paulo; Renata Vieira da Motta, architect and president of the Brazilian Committee of the International Council of Museums (Icom-BR); and Romildo Campello, Secretary of State for Culture.
