Every year, almost as many people develop pancreatic cancer as die from it. Compared to common types of cancer, pancreatic cancer is relatively rare. Pancreatic tumors are among the types of cancer that rarely cause symptoms in the early stages. And when they do, the symptoms do not immediately suggest pancreatic cancer. Pancreatic carcinoma, as pancreatic cancer is medically called, is therefore usually discovered late and then has poor prospects of recovery. This makes identifying high-risk patients, regular preventive care, and early detection diagnostics all the more important.
