NEOJIBA (State Centers for Youth and Children's Orchestras of Bahia) brought together more than 500 members of the program's main orchestras and choirs at the Castro Alves Theater's Concha Acústica, and Palco TVE will show this great concert to Bahian viewers next Saturdays (14th and 21st), at 7:00 p.m. The show is a partnership between TVE and the NEOJIBA program to promote the dissemination of concert, classical and popular music culture throughout Bahia. The performance includes the Experimental Pedagogical Orchestra and the Experimental Pedagogical Choir, under the baton of Adauri de Oliveira, as well as the recently created NEOJIBA Symphonic Band, conducted by Ricardo Castro, founder and general director of NEOJIBA. The instrumental cast also includes the Castro Alves Orchestra and the Children's and Youth Choir, conducted by Venezuelan maestro Eduardo Salazar, as well as the 2 de Julho Orchestra, the Youth and Community Choirs, and four vocal soloists, conducted by Ricardo Castro. The repertoire of the concert 'NEOJIBA na Concha: Orquestras, Coros & Banda' celebrates two of the greatest works in the history of music - Gershwin's iconic 'Rhapsody in Blue', which is celebrating its 100th anniversary, and Beethoven's 9th Symphony, which changed the course of music 200 years ago. These tributes are joined by several other pieces, ranging from jazz to concert music, and even MPB hits. The show can also be seen at alternative times on the 15th and 22nd (Sundays), at 5 pm, and on the 20th and 27th (Fridays), at 8 pm. NEOJIBA is a program of the State Government, maintained by the Secretariat of Justice and Human Rights (SJDH), and managed by the Institute of Social Development Through Music (IDSM). Created in 2007, it promotes the development and social inclusion of children, adolescents and young people in vulnerable situations through collective musical practice.
