This patient had a bypass 20 years ago. In the meantime, he has been doing well. For a few years now, he has developed atrial fibrillation but has not noticed much of it. He has visited my office every year for check-ups. About a year ago, the patient suffered a syncope, which is why we implanted a REVEAL. This is an event recorder that continuously measures the pulse. Thanks to this device, we were able to find out that the patient occasionally has pauses, i.e., his heart rhythm stops. Because of this, we implanted a pacemaker. This was done yesterday under local anesthesia and today the patient is going home. Are you affected by atrial fibrillation yourself?
