Ozan Emekçi was born on January 1, 1955 in Maraş as the son of a father who played the bağlama. He learned the minstrel tradition from minstrels in his region at a young age. Ozan Emekçi, who stated that he was influenced by folk poets such as Mahsuni, Meçhuli and İhsani, released his first cassette while he was still in high school. After coming to Istanbul, Emekçi, who released 4 45's, had a program on the radio with Aşık Daimi under the management of Ümit Kaftancıoğlu. Not even 3 months have passed since September 12, Emekçi released another cassette. The first cassette he released is Özgürlük Mahkumları. It was not easy to release a cassette under the conditions of September 12, but the folk song would be passed on by word of mouth for years. Emekçi, who met with prison because he was a socialist poet, lost his father and 16 relatives in the Maraş massacre.
